The GenuPoint relieves the excess strain on the patellar tendon in a targeted manner and helps to alleviate pain in the front of the knee and counteract restricted mobility. The narrow support sits directly below the kneecap and exerts targeted pressure on the patellar tendon in order to relieve the strain at its insertion. A special pad incorporated into the support controls the relieving effect via four pressure points and stimulates the tendon. The two inner pressure points also guide the patellar tendon during loading. The outer pressure points stimulate receptors in the surrounding area, exerting a positive influence on the knee sensorimotor system. Frictional nubs on the pressure points enhance the targeted compression and massage the knee during movement. The soft knitted fabric of the GenuPoint is non-elastic in the transverse direction and elastic in the longitudinal direction, enabling it to hold the knee securely in position when it is bent while fitting the body perfectly. It is tightened with a Velcro strap on both sides that prevents the orthosis from slipping while being put on and allows the compression to be adjusted to the patient’s individual needs. Its anatomical fit allows maximum freedom of movement.
